Frequently Asked Questions

This page will be updated regularly with information to resolve common FAQs to the users of the site.

Why has my activation email not arrived for my new Community Choices (Consul) account?

There can be a variety of reasons why an activation hasn't arrived e.g. typo in your email address when registering etc but there are things you can check/do. Check your spam or junk mail folder around the date you initially registered to make sure that the email has not been diverted by your mail provider e.g. gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc. Please add noreply@mail.communitychoices.scot to your list of contacts when logged into your email account as this will help to ensure the emails arrive in your inbox.

If your question is not answered please contact the Communities & Partnerships Team via email: communitygrants@scotborders.gov.uk

I am having problems registering with Google Chrome.

Some users are experiencing registration issues using Google Chrome and are being sent to a blank page.  If this happens first of all ensure your browser and network settings are enabled to allow pop-up windows and that your firewall accepts the communitychoices.scot url.  If you still experience a problem please try with another brower such as Internet Explorer, Safari or Firefox.  These can all be dowloaded free of charge to your desktop or mobile device.

We are actively working to resolve this issue and will notify users as soon as it is working.

I had trouble registering and voting on Thursday 16th May what do I do?

Due to a technical issue we are asking all voters who voted on Thursday 16thMay 2019 to please do the following:

Ensure your account is verified:Please go to the "My account" page by clicking the link in the top right of the homepage when signed in.  If your account is verified it will state “Account verified”, if not please verify your account by clicking the "Verify my account" link.

Check your vote: Go into the “Participatory budgeting” section and the locality you voted in. If no votes have been registered please vote for the projects you wish to see funded. If the page is registering your previous votes please click the "Check and confirm my ballot" link to ensure that you have cast all of your votes and that you have done so in the correct locality/area.

If you have not cast all of your votes please do so to ensure your votes count.  If you are unsure of your area please use the Find It tool on the home page to make sure you vote correctly.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Can I register another person in my household to the same user account?

No, each user has to create a unique account using a different email address. You cannot register more than one user against one email address.

Have I cast my votes?

On selecting the projects you wish to vote for you can check your ballot by clicking on the “Check my ballot” button. The ‘Your ballot’ page simply confirms the projects you have selected and these votes will be cast when the online voting window closes on Friday 7th June at 5pm.

Note: There is no submit button, the site simply records the projects you have selected and casts them on the closure of the online vote. Your votes are held securely and cannot be altered by anyone other than yourself.

The username I want is not available?

If the username you create has already been taken you will be asked to create a different unique one.  You can do this by adding a special character or digit or by choosing another username.

The password I want to use is not being accepted?

Please ensure you are selecting an 8 character password.
